I mean as a hobby and for excersise. Can you continue to safely spar with protective gear into your 50's or later?

No such thing as a box that's too old.

That's what lube is for.

I'll sign up with you if I get a chance to fight you, Farmer, and TexAg07.

The older you get, the more susceptible you are to brain bleeds.

Is it really that risky with protective gear though?

Don't know about the other guys but you really want a piece of me? Knowing I box and used to MMA? What have I done to you?

Yes, and no. There are too many variables to say for certain but yes, even with head gear there is still significant risk. This is more a of a conversation you need to have with your training partners. Without knowing your skill level and background it's hard to say.

Skip boxing, take bjj. It's less destructive on your noodle.

PS - to answer your question - the older you are the worse it is for you. I think you get concussions and popped blood vessels a lot easier the more you age.

No such thing as too old.

I mean if your 80 and you get killed in the ring, didn't you really die of old age?

There's no magic age, but you could wait until dementia sets in. Then brain damage won't cost you anything. Unfortunately, you won't remember that you wanted to box.
