How much time do you spend trying to improve yourself instead of others?

What percentage of time would you say you spend trying to identify and correct flaws in yourself or just improving yourself through self refection, education, experience, etc. as opposed to the time you spend thinking of how other people or groups can be improved?

I try to concentrate on improving myself but I got to admit I do spend some time thinking about others and what how they should act differently or be better people.

100% of the time.

I am a relentlessy self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery.

Lately mainly just focus on myself. Mostly physically but I'm always trying to learn something or become more in tune with my brain. I'm taking piano lessons actually, first time I've ever learned an instrument.

I don't really think about what others need to do, but I do get upset and grossed out when I see people who are extremely unhealthy and/or overweight

Human nature is to take the easiest route possible for prosperity, and it is much easier to pick out flaws in others and lower their relative value than it is to improve yourself.

Yeah. I can appreciate that aspect. Just seems like when we are always going on about "them" or "him" or "her" and how they fall short of perfection, we tend to be unhappy a lot of the time. At least that's the way it looks to me anyway.

I always find that when I'm able to concentrate on improving myself (which I admit is kind of counterintuitive) and treating others well, it makes life a lot sweeter.

As exercises in futility go, this one ranks with trying to bring down the Great Wall of China with a pea shooter.
