Nurses make the damn world go round

They do well, but should be paid more 4 what they do IMO

They make the docs look good - go ahead, ask an MD

you can make good money. My experience is baton rouge doesn't pay very well. CENLA is even worse.
expect to pay dues. You will have to work nights probably and every other weekend. You will do things you never dreamed of ie; cleaning poop and suctioning trach's. sputum and poop and various other bodily fluids. If this bothers you then think long and hard before going back to school.
people who are making bank are working nights and if you do some research they may be working lots of OT
they may be working agency and doing contracts. maybe even travel nursing. all of which have advantages and disadvantages.
You will not get rich in nursing but you will do okay and you will always be able to find a job.
There are lots of different paths to take in nursing. Thrill junkies like the ER or ICU.
some people like more technical shite and work cath lab and so on.
as for benefits of being a male RN. I've worked with lots of major babes. Otherwise no benefits. you may well be the lifter of heavy patients if you are the only guy.
Expect to hate your bosses and see reallly stupid decisions from people who don't have the foggiest idea of what you do. As a nurse you are the cost of doing business not the reason they can do business. So management has always tried to screw RN's in my experience.
I recently was involved ina conversation with the nurses on a unit I was working and most admitted that their W2's were less each year for the past couple of years. People are getting sicker, insurance pays less and less. many many in La don't have insurance, so there is very little reimbursement for them.
aw shite. I'm on my high horse aghain. sorry. I could go on and on

Being in the profession I'm in I know alot of ER nurses and flight nurses. I have always been told that the flight nurses make all the money in that profession but, in my personal opinion they are at the top as far as job performance. I'm not sure in other parts of the country or state if that still holds true.
