Last night I landed on TBS as I was flipping around. There was a program with two nerds playong some kind of martial arts game, with commentators doing play by play. I don't want to live in this world anymore

Those commentator vids saved me a ton of cash. My son was addicted to Jurassic world on I-pad. Only problem is everything has to be paid for to get the next best dinosaur, the hybrid T-Rex thing being the best one. The only way to get it is to basically spend, and I'm not joking, about 300 dollars. After I gave him about 60 bucks, which is easy to do because it's not like you are watching cash exchanged, your CC is linked and typing in a password for verification is simple, I was like frick this. Long story short he became obsessed with these British dudes just commentating on the video games like mystery science theater and I've never spent a dime since.

I've played a similar chinese version called Invasion. The amount of money some people spend on these games is sickening.

I guess keeping up with the Jones's is alive and well in the virtual world too.

Can you please explain how a game on your phone can be worth $3000 when you can get the best nintendo there is and it's best 10 games for under $1000? I assume part of it is because you can play anywhere but they sell little portable nintendos. I'm not a gamer so I honestly have no idea, I do want to know though!

It's a drug. And, it's not that hard to understand what they're doing.

It's boils down to pace and accomplishment and the interactions with basic human psychology.

At first the game gets you hooked by a fast and easy pace of play with lots of upgrades free of charge. Your body acclimates to the endorphins.

Then the pace slows and the upgrades become harder to get and longer to attain. Oh wait, for just 10 dollars a can get some coins to get that widget. For just $50 you can get 5 widgets etc.

It's a drug.

ESports will only get bigger and bigger. You have generations that have now grown up with video games their entire lives and you have pro gamers with sponsorship deals, teams owned by wealthy people, etc. There is tons of money being made in it for everyone all just like "real" sports.
