My town is definitely liberal, about as liberal as they come but real estate here is going up in value tremendously so when we sell our house and two rental properties we will do well and retire someplace where the property taxes aren't insane

By every objective measure the Northeast is a much better place to live than the South but it's always been my least favorite area of the country (outside of rural Maine, Vermont). It's just not my scene and I've been to 45 of the 50 states. To each their own
