How many of you put your religion before everything else in life?

It seems to me that you see a lot of people who "put God first" or "live their life for God".
If you are one of these people, have you explored any other religions?
I would imagine that 95% of people have not extensively researched or explored any other religion outside of the one they follow. I would imagine most also just stuck with whatever they grew up with from their parents. That's fine and all, but if religion is the most important aspect of your life- wouldn't you want to read the word of all different kinds of religions?
Is this not a disturbing thought to most people? How can you devote your life to a religion or make it your top priority in life, when you haven't even given thought to anything other than what you have learned about since birth?
For the record, I'm not for or against religion. It has it's good and it's bad just like anything else. I've just always found that aspect fascinating. If you devote your life to your family, chances are you didn't stop your search for a wife after your first girlfriend. Just curious as to this thought process.

I did at one point. Best years of my life, tbh. I don't think I'm still capable of that kind of unquestioning faith, though. Too much water over the dam.

Yeah, I give this about 10 posts before it's whacked.

If following one's religion makes one a better, caring, kind, and thoughtful person - by all means, I don't care. Look at Mormons. Bat shite crazy theology, but some of the most genuine and good people I've ever met.

And almost none of them are actually doing it.

As an atheist, I got very familiar with most major religions. There is power in the name of Jesus. I'm now a Christian.

I agree. That's one of the best aspects of religion. I'm more curious as to the thought process of devoting your life to something, without really exploring alternative options.

Has anyone asked/have the admins ever answered the question of why, of all the shite that's discussed here, religion is off-limits?
We talk about race, abortion, politics, paedophilia, all kinds of sex, etc. But religion is just the big no-no.
fricking retarded if you ask me. People aren't all that wound up about faith anymore.

I love having discussions with people who are not Catholic for this very reason. Got to be seeking the truth. And if you never have to defend your beliefs, you can be pretty content with being wrong.
