So let me get this straight -- so far we have the following countries actively participating in airstrikes or some other form of military action:

1. USA
2. Iraq?
3. Jordan
4. Egypt
5. France

President Obama has officially submitted a request to Congress for combat troops on the ground against ISIS. How long will it be until there's a full-blown worldwide campaign against ISIS?

I, for one, would 100% support it and I don't see how anyone in their right mind could be against it. We must eliminate the threat they pose before it grows larger and hits us on our shores in a major way (such as an attack on a 9/11 scale).

Like all coalitions, they wait until the US goes in before they do. Daddy has to show the kids how it is done.

There will have to be something massive done by ISIL that triggers the world to act. Right now they're a coordinated insurgent organization, but they don't exactly have a territory and they things they do don't call for world wide outrage yet.

A "worldwide" campaign isn't needed. Just a relentless localized one by the people whose country their taking over.

Italy is reportedly gearing up against ISIS as well.

That's a net positive for Isis

I forgot about France. Not used to thinking of France and military action in the same line of thought .

I have little faith in Jordan or Egypt to sustain an offensive campaign against ISIS. Call me a doubting Thomas if you will.

There was a guy on the radio last week talking about this. He mentioned the way we do things is about to change. The US tends to smart bomb targets to save lives and property nearby. The guy on the radio was explaining how now countries like Jordan, Egypt, and others are fed up with ISIS and when they get involved, be prepared to see more old school carpet bombing. He also said the US may follow and talked about how this may be the only way to get the attention of those you are after. He went on and on and referenced back to WW2 and even talked about how the mooslum community will feel about this. It's going to get ugly is what it came down to, but the good news is the US may not be in the lead. I guess we wil see

I doubt this, but I somewhat agree that this needs to happen. Unfortunately.

Can you explain the benefit of troops on the ground to me?

For that to be effective we need to know where isis is, there need to be large numbers of isis members identifiable so that we may engage.

Otherwise we have troops getting sneak attacked while running convoys to nowhere with ieds and random attacks then disappearing again.

Airstrikes and Intel will work just fine for now

Wish I remembered his name. Some professor or so called expert on these things. Was not just a caller in to the show. Not that this makes him right, but he had some respect on the topic

There is already 20+ nations in the "coalition" but none of them do anything. They let the US pay for it and carry it out. Jordan is active now since they killed their pilot. This is a US action, as usual.

How is it that every time a country is provoked into entering into war against ISIS, they seem to already know where their training facilities and weapon caches are? So we all have the intel, but are sitting around on our dicks?

Be honest, if they just shot guys instead of burning and beheading them, would you be supporting such action?

Arabs have been doing this for centuries. Amazing nobody's figured that out yet.
