The left wing does not have political control over Tik Tok. Everybody is free to post what they want. This is why the left wants it banned especially with the election coming up.

The ban is hypocritical bc lawmakers if successful will pat themselves on the back for ridding us of a Chinese platform yet do NOTHING about the Chinese buying up American farmland. Our government is stupid.
There’s a lot of conservative content on tik tok. Alot of truth to find there, more than cable news which is why they want to ban it.

They should force removal of any spy software, but banning as a whole is an overreach.

Good. I'm definitely against big government but I'm also against allowing the Chinese government easy access to spy on us and try to manipulate an entire generation of people.

This is exactly right. Ticktock destroys Biden and praises Trump. If a Silicon Valley company buys Ticktock, they can shut up conservatives just like they did on other social media platforms, most notably during Covid and still do through Google search results.

I don't care at all about TikTok so it won't affect me, but I'm torn on it overall.
I don't like the government getting too involved in what people can choose to consume, but at the same time social media and shite like TikTok is ruining an entire generation and making them more stupid. So in a way I also kinda get it. Maybe they can age-restrict it or something? I don't know what the solution is. But there are very few positive things that come from something like TikTok IMO.

FYI it’s catered to what you enjoy. The algo targets more content relevant to you. If you enjoy Trump it gives you Trump. If you enjoy Trump being a martyr it will give you people hating on Trump and praising Trump. It’s not the platform it’s you
