The thing is that Don Rickles didn't just that stuff at roasts. He would say it on the Carson show and everywhere else.

Fun fact: Don made regular appearances on Frank Rosenthal's (ace rothstien) talk show and ended up playing Dinero right hand man later in the movie Casino

It's crazy how over sensitive we've become, especially on television. I watched some old SNL episodes from the late 70s/early 80s and there is no way the race based jokes would be allowed today. It's not that they were derogatory, just stereotypical, but hilarious too. It's tragic.

Fine. He was weak coming out of it and stuff but he's OK now and he's at home. He's sore already so hopefully he will recover by Monday so we can start chemo.

How's your mom?

Eddie Murphy wouldn't have been as funny on SNL today as he was originally because there is no way some of his skits would have ever aired.

Hell Steve Martin couldn't even say he was born "a poor black child" today, some would say that was insensitive......

Wilt Chamberlain looked like he didn't find humor in being called "The Jolly Black Giant".

Still sore. Kidneys and gallbladder hurt some. Going to my doc tomorrow if I can hold out. Might be a stone or something. I just don't want to get down and not be there to help my old man.

ETA: Thanks, George!

Make sure to take care of yourself aa well. That way you are feeling 100% and able to help out with your dad if you wish. Sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he is able to fight and beat it With his port make sure site stays super clean. Once he is home make sure to monitor his temp and any fever needs to be reported to his doctor/home nurse.

My father in law beat prostate cancer last year....was still a very scary time for the entire family.
