How do you handle seeing someone you haven't seen in a long time?

That was once a major part of your life but you never talk anymore? Not necessarily an ex but anyone. This is clearly more geared to something that ended badly and not a clean break

Be pleasant and say hello. Then just go on about my business.

Hell I ignore people I know from high school all the time.
Curse of living in a small town.

Pretend I forgot their name, ask if they remember a story they weren't a part of, crop dust them as I leave

What if they always give you the go eat shite look because they are insane?

i usually start with a carefully orchestrated combination of words specifically crafted from years of plotting just for this very engagement. something like "hey, how have you been?" or "hey, long time."

Make sure your life is better than theirs and that they know it.

I wonder if this is about his estranged 'brother', Old Hickory'?

You went looking for your ex and found her in the arms of another man didn't you?

had an ex come up to me at a restaurant right after 9/11, with her husband, hadn't seen her in years, she went crazy hugging and kissing me, crying like a baby, it was awkward because of the ex, I appreciated it

Act like an adult, be polite, and then move on.

I'm pretty positive they already know this

Make small talk and hope the conversation ends as quickly as it began.

I usually just try to avoid the whole situation
Posted on 10/24/16 at 4:49 pm to BugaPainTrain7
Yea that's if it's unavoidable.

I try to ignore most acquaintances I see around. My girlfriend unfortunately is the opposite. She always wants to do a stop and chat with anyone she has ever known.

Greet them with "How are doing, you look" pause as if searching for the right word, "great"
Walk away.
