IT's not just SEALS that do this. To the best of my knowledge, pretty much every SF training does this. Also if you "drown" too many times, can't remember the exact number, you're out all together.

Just stop.

I can't decide who is the most ignorant in this thread. Hopefully we will have a unmistakable winner before noon.

I hope these guys are trolling cuz it's damn sad if they aren't.

Course I hope our enemies believe these guys are soldiers who never sleep and don't need air. I'm sure that would do wonders on their psyche

The respiratory contractions are easy to fight...at first. If I get to 30+ I literally spasm. Looks like someone took a swing at my gut.

Know how I learned it? Seeing who could hold their breath the longest in the pool.

Can't imagine fighting it until passing out. Or being expected to do any physical activity at all while fighting it.

But if you can hold your breath for a minute...if you aren't a pussy, you can hold it for two.

I hope our enemies read this thread, and believe the morons who think we drown our SF units. Then maybe they will adopt this tactic and kill off their entire military for us

I heard they have to do coke repeatedly until they die like in Pulp Fiction then stab their buddy in the heart with a shot of adrenaline to bring them back.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Oh, and isn't Ranger School in the winter? I don't pretend to know anything. My stepdaughter and I watched a documentary on it. It looked like it was freezing outside, and they were jumping in water! Forget that!

I may not know the exact science of sf selection, but other than some technicality on that front, I haven't said anything false.

Sure, believe that our elite forces aren't trained in extreme conditions if you want.

Desert himself said he lost 50 pounds during rip. that's normal.

I doubt you find anyone to deny the other things.

This is directed to all of the people in this thread who have only "heard" about these schools and especially the guy who keeps calling me a dick and an a-hole (I won't even bother getting Freudian about his word choices):

Here is a piece of advice. Quit reading about these experiences and go live them while you are young. You will learn more about yourself than you ever will doing anything else. If you can pass one of these courses, you will never again the rest of your life think "I can't do that" when faced with a task. Even if you don't make it, you will gain perspective regarding how "hard" things are in day to day life that will make everything else easy. BTW, you will become one hell of a good employee too. Why do you think so many ex-(pick your choice) become successful business owners? Because they understand hard work and going the extra mile.

Or go back to your Xbox in mommies basement. See? I couldn't finish without being a tool.

I could hold my breath for 2 minutes underwater when I was a lifeguard. I pretty much tried to force my self into a semi-conscious state while floating face down though. If I was moving around at all, anything over 40 seconds was pretty tough to do

Well, the title of your thread is that they stay awake 168+ hours. No sleep. Maybe we should start with that. Is that even true?

Um, I told you to not be a dick. I never mentioned "a-hole". I think the Freudian slip was on your end.

The guys I was working with in Iraq back in 03-04 told me the last phase of sf was to stay up a week. They could have been full of shite.

The delta guys would never talk. They aren't supposed to even exist. I've had active duty members tell me delta isn't real.

Yea right. It's real.

...heroin. She overdoses because what she thought was coke was heroin.

Travolta played a junkie. How did you not get that......

That isn't how it works. Look into the incidents where training failures have led to severe injuries or deaths (swamp incident) if you want to read where peoples careers were cut short as a result.

We left a guy behind (he fell asleep on his SAW while pulling security) at the boat launch in Jungle Phase and the RI's didn't notice until we did our first security halt in the middle of the swamp about 2hrs later. We had the 6th RTB Commander walking with us and trust me when I say that everything came to a fricking screeching halt when it was discovered we were missing a guy.

Another RI from a different Platoon found him at the boat launch and they were basically chasing us trying to catch up so it didn't take long to find him, but our RI's got their asses handed to them by the Commander that day.
