I know most don't

But i have an old childhood friend in BR, who is really down on his luck trying to make ends meet. Out of rehab, flooded, just nothing good going on. Trying to stay clean and he drives a tow truck.

Guy has been bitching about tooth pain for months now but can't afford go. Last thing I want is for him to resort to drugs to ease his tooth pain.

Are there any BR dentist who are understanding in a case like this? I'd even be willing to cover the up front cost for him and what not. I know of the dental school, but I think even then you probably need a referral, which is more $$$ for this guy. I'm thinking this guy might need a lot of work due to neglect and damage from drug use

Any BR people have any input? I could help the guy if he was in NOLA but he doesn't have a car yet to drive down here.

Is he eligible to get Medicaid? That would open up some options for him

There are plenty of "clinics" that also offer dental services. A girl I went to school with is a PA at a clinic that has a dental dept and with sliding scale everything is $20

They don't. They let Crystal Meth take care of it for them.

The LSU School of Dentistry in NOLA does have a program where the students work on the folks for no charge. Don't know what the criteria is to qualify for the program

Seriously though. I recommend doing some research. There are places out there where people with low income can go.

Medicaid can be a kind of lengthy process to get enrolled, and I'm pretty sure that you have to be worth close to literally nothing to qualify. It's something to look into, but I imagine that it might not be the best option.
