How do cartoonists makes money with Gocomics?

I know an illustrator. He is good too. Works as a janitor on the side to pay his bills.

And I know that this isn't a joke. I have a ton of comic book artist and cartoonist friends, and the bulk of them are either living off of their wives or family or have full time regular jobs to pay their bills. A couple of them refuse to admit how they make ends meet. It's something that you do out of love, for sure.

You'll see a lot of them begging for money on Kickstarter or Patreon.

gocomics is an aggregator of syndicated strips for the most part
I have a cousin who does graphic novels/illustrations (her main title is "finder" and she also freelances) and she does well

she says the internet is the best thing that's happened to comic authors
