I first heard baw in middle school in the early 90s. Its used by country people in the Lafayette/St Martinville/New Iberia area.

This is the correct answer. Especially the St. Martinville/New Iberia part. Heavily used by uneducated oilfield workers.

I've only seen it from losers on this board. So I'm assuming a couple of them saw some guy on reddit saying it so they had to say it too.
