HOUSTON - A Houston father is on a mission to stiffen penalties against sex traffickers.
He says his teenage daughter was lured into the trade through social media app Snapchat.
“There was trouble lurking out there,” said John Clark. “We had no idea how bad it is,” he added. The energy executive was hesitant about sharing his story due to his daughter’s ongoing trauma.
“What happened is very private, and embarrassing, and humiliating,” said Clark. Clark says she was groomed via Snapchat, starting at age 16, by a man in his 20’s. They later met in person at a party.
Clark says she then disappeared.
“It was completely out of left field,” said Clark. “Never could have seen it coming,” he added.
Like in the movie “Taken,” Clark tells KHOU 11 he used private resources to help track down his daughter and her alleged captor at a Houston apartment building.
“And it’s nothing against the police,” said Clark. “It’s just they’re not set up to do that, they’re set up to slowly, methodically build an airtight case,” he added. “And in the time it would’ve taken to build an airtight case, I would’ve lost my daughter,” said Clark.

Meh. Prostitution is a victim-less crime, at least that what a lot of folks on the poli board think.

It's crazy to think that something so brief and fleeting as a Snapchat could be utilized by a sexual deviant or criminal.

I'm saying this as someone born post-1990...digital media may be the most polarizing technological advancement in the history of civilization. For every positive and beneficial outcome or opportunity it has brought about, it has led many individuals down a never-ending rabbit hole of terrible outcomes.

If I was paying for private resources and they actually found the POS I would go all in and pay thrm.to castrate him. Make him live without his balls.

Sounds like the same story about that girl who disappeared at a SUNO party. Any news on her?

I don't know anything about Snapchat but Kik is pretty popular too because it doesn't require a phone number. Lots of pervs get to them that way. Wouldn't surprise me if traffickers did the same.

Snapchat is relatively difficult to find people on too, unless they are putting their usernames on Facebook or twitter

Id argue that social media has brought more freedoms and democracy to the Middle East than our foreign policy.

And has allowed us to see how corrupt our media/political class is.
