Housing around the University of Arizona

This is a long shot, but a co-workers son is going to grad school there in the fall and they know nothing about where he should live. Any input on good areas or areas to avoid would be helpful. He is looking for a situation with roommates so if any one has any formation on that front it's a bonus. Thanks in advance.

U of Arizona gets a lot of SoCal girls too.

Yup. UA gets the USC and UCLA rejects. They're hot and not too bright.

Yeah but the nightlife options in Tucson are HORRIBLE compared to Tempe/Scottsdale/Phoenix.
Some of the areas around Sabino Canyon are really nice though. Mount Lemmon is awesome having nearby to drive up and go hiking, etc. The areas of Tucson by all the spas/resorts is nice as well.

It's not really a fair comparison. It's like comparing NOLA and BR. There are good places, just not as many of them.

Lived there for 2 years. NOTHING IN SOUTH TUCSON. I have a friend who owns a condo out there but doesn't live there anymore. I'm going to see if he needs a renter. Nice place in West Tucson. Also have another friend out there that is a real estate person and he may be able to help out.

Fair point
My husband is from Phoenix and is a huge UofA fan(and he didn't attend either ASU or UofA).

Very good comparison. Crime is alot lower both Tucson and PHX than BR and NOLA

You may want to do a little research on Phx cause it's the kidnapping capital of the US, many ruthless gangs and the number of illegals there is off the charts.

Off-Campus Housing Search
^Look here. It's where I searched to find roommates for my time there. I had a buddy who lived at The District, which has an awesome rooftop pool. Also, I had another friend at The Cadence which is legit too and right on 4th where all the bars are. Other than that, I'd say most people live just north of campus off Euclid, Park, Mountain or any street between Stone & Tucson Blvd but south of Grant. I lived at Mountain and Lester. It was an easy walk / bike to campus every day. Rent's cheap out there. Also, don't bring winter clothes. There is no winter in Tucson. Need anything else, let me know.

I'll second this. Don't get anything south of Davis Monthan
