Surprisingly the Marriott Courtyard iberville suites is legit. By far the best CY I've ever stayed in and convenient to the good places in the quarter. It's connected to the Ritz as well.

Speaking of surprisingly nice: I randomly used NYOP for one night a couple years ago, and got Residence Inn in Warehouse District for $52 or something ridiculous. That place was an apartment. Definitely bigger than the apartment I currently live in.

How silly. The Monteleone on Royal St. is an amazing "old New Orleans" hotel experience.

I've had really bad luck getting stuck in storage closets passed as a room there. Someone said on here last week that it's hit or miss. Gotta be careful.

I like Le Pav a ton.

OP is lucky in that August is New Orleans slowest month. Best deals of the year are right now! Look into the Ritz, they may be discounts as well.

Hyatt for $68 is a steal.

If you're not staying at the Roosevelt or the Ritz, you might as well hit up a Day's Inn in Kenner.

Well that's not the price Hyatt is going to give you.
It's opaque pricing.

It's not guaranteed that it will be Hyatt, but I would bet money it will be because it's the exact price and star level and area I had this past weekend.

Opaque pricing scares some people, but it's totally worth it if you're not aiming for something specific and only care about star level and location.

4 stars in downtown/superdome is plenty safe no matter which hotel it ends up being.

I like staying at the Royal Sonesta. Never felt unsafe. Just don't get shitfaced and going walking around by yourself in the middle of the night.

I also like staying at the renaissance on Tchoupitoulas. Plenty of places to eat and drink near by and it's a nice area.

Happened to me at the Royal Orleans in February when I stayed down to see The Eagles. The cost of doing business on Priceline, I guess.

Royal sonesta is having a special $159 for:

French Quarter Fling
Summer Value French Quarter Fling Package. Includes a Bottle of Champage and the Sonesta Savings pack of vouchers to area attractions, dining and museums. Valued at $250.

May need to hit that.

That sounds like your deal, then.

Will be easy stay on a Weds night in August. Grab a drink at the Carousel bar. Walk down Bourbon on a chill night. Then pop right into your hotel and crash.

Been there twice. Had the interior courtyard rooms both times. But i guess it is like any Nola hotel that the rooms are never uniform in size and I just got lucky. Stayed at the Monteleone and Roosevelt and had tiny rooms in both. I always liked the Monteleone's bar though.

I just realized that the WWII museum closes at 5:00 and I was hoping to be able to go see it after my 1:30 appt (hour long). I love WWII so I seriously doubt 2 hours would be enough for me.

Edited- This was supposed to be under the B&B comment.

I'm thinking you need to explore a little more about what you know about B&B's. I've stayed in several with my wife and it is always really great.
Generally you aren't sharing bathrooms and stuck in some rickety little place.
Also, it's nice when you have great owners to great you and give you great advice about attractions and areas nearby, etc.
Their dining rooms and kitchens are probably way cleaner than the average hotel or restaurant.

Here is a link to a nice place in N.O. that I have known friends to have enjoyed. Probably wouldn't be cool for a single person though.

It's a fear I cannot explain. I've just had it since childhood.

I'll have to eventually get over it since I doubt I'll be building a fresh new house anytime soon.

Really like the WWII museum. If you're crunched for time, you could just do the Beyond All Boundaries exhibit.

Will take a look into this. I am in Nola a good bit so I will make sure I don't short change my visit to the museum this go around and just plan better next time.

ETA: It requires general admission.

Marriott Renaissance Arts Hotel on Tchoupitoulas would be awesome.

Right across from Lucy's. A ton of stuff to do within walking distance.

ETA: Just read the rest of the thread and realized that's three upvotes for this hotel.
