Not downtown, but if Lauberge has live music tonight, that's always a pretty cool choice

If you need to stay in the state and aren't interested in a New Orleans trip, I suggest going to old town Covington. There are a few bed and breakfast places and a renovated old school hotel there. Park your car and walk around to the restaurants, bars, and shops. Rent some bikes and just go explore, etc.
