Word on the street is in December the same people were asleep at their house and woke up to some noise. The husband found one guy in the house and one was coming in the window. He ran to get his gun and they left before he got back.

That’s odd.

So they released the name and it looks like a completely normal 59 year old couple. The news does mention a home invasion last month. I wonder what the real story is here.

It seems like some of their neighbors would have remembered hearing gun shots.

Was a gun laying next to the husband and where was he shot? It seems like it shouldn’t be too hard to determine if it was him or someone else that did the shooting.

Yeah, obviously the cops know if it was murder/suicide but it just doesn't look like the couple that would experience this. Granted you never really know your neighbors.

The men from the home invasion might have been invited over by the wife and the husband found out

In these neighborhoods, you just don't hear about everything that goes on.

I had a justice of the peace tell me that people wouldn't believe the people who he gets calls from at 2AM... 3AM
because their husband beat them earlier and they don't want the kids to know or a woman caught her boyfriend sexually molesting her kids and she didn't say anything the first few times, but she had enough.. Only to have the man talk her out of pressing charges and they are also embarrassed because they would no longer be willing to go around like everything is perfect. (I think the role of JOP differs from parish to parish, but in this particular case the JOP deals with domestic disputes and can be the go between between the police and the party dealing with shite).

The happiest couples on facebook are often the most dysfunctional in reality. They overcompensate. Not saying that's the case here, but Facebook is the land of dreams.

If you are inside your house and someone shoots a gun inside the house next door, it's going to result in little more than "What was that?"

Not how it works. Once a report is filed, it’s up to the DA. No DA is going to walk away from a molestation case because the boyfriend “talked her out of pressing charges”.

The notary of the public, not the justice of the peace now handles all domestic disputes within the jurisdiction of my HOA.

He really does know most of BR including the expats. Also why are people downvoting his post providing a factual response to an inquiry?

I highly doubt this. Manslaughter is a crime of violence and under La. C.Cr.P. art. 978 it is not eligible for an expungement.

So any more news? Anybody in the know? Was it a murder suicide or a double homicide?

WAFB

quote:

AST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Deputies have released the names of a couple found shot to death inside a home on Monday, Jan. 9.

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, the victims are Coby Manuel, 59, and Jenell Manuel, 59.

Their bodies were found in a home on Indigo Ridge Avenue near O’Neal Lane in the White Oak Trace subdivision, authorities said.

A family member reportedly found the bodies when she went to check on the couple after not hearing from them since Saturday.

It appeared the couple had been dead for at least a day, an investigator told WAFB.

EBRSO Homicide is currently investigating what occurred inside the residence and the EBR Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the manner and time of death.

The male victim reported a possible attempted burglary at the home last month, a neighbor said.

From what I can gather on Facebook, she is mentioned by a lot of people who are mourning her death, but I’ve only seen one post expressing sadness about his death. My guess is murder-suicide.
