Home warranty companies

home warranty of america hooked me up when my HVAC went out 2 weeks ago.

i honestly wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised when the guy came out..fixed my unit and billed me $60.

I had a pretty bad experience with American Home Shield to say the least. I am not sure which is worse; AHS or there "contractors".

Basically I had an AC inside unit go out and needless to say the total that I would've had to come out of pocket roughly $1800 because of "non-covered items (I.e- refrigerant, brackets for ac to sit on, basically everything the is not the air handler)" was just about the cost of an entire unit from a non-certified contractor, or as we know it, the free market bidding/best value.. So with the nearly the same cost I chose the "buy out" option which essentially give me money for what the parts would cost($900) and I had an outside company to do it. And just as a note, in order to get the money you have to harass the hell out of them to get a check.

As you would probably expect, I did not renew and feel as though it was a great call thus far.

Its only 3 years old. I think the HVAC is the one thing that alarms me enough to pay the monthly fee.

So you got $900 towards the repair and you're complaining? You're just the person I was talking about in my other post.

Look, it's not all rainbows and unicorns. Sometimes you'll have to make a few phone calls to get shite done properly. One thing you should know is none of them pay to have drywall textured and painted. If you have a leak they will cover the plumbing but will only patch the hole. You're responsible for the texture and paint. They will come out and try to fix the problem first at all costs. They don't just throw new replacements out at will.

I would not have a warranty on a 3-year-old house. That doesn't seem to make sense. Everything is pretty much brand new on that sucker. Shouldn't the HVAC be covered under a different warranty if it is only 3 years old?
