History question: how would the world had been different if Alexander had lived?

Been reading a book on Alexander the Great. Good reading. But it prompts me to ask:
Would things had been different if he had lived longer? And if he had left a strong heir that was prepped to take over for him?
Seems like he had plans to do something maybe in Arabia and some other places in the mid east.
Then again he got pretty infatuated with the Persia and India and the far east. And his successors did pretty well in some of the areas they ended up with - especially Ptolemy in Egypt.

He had the ghey.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. How can someone choose a dude over a naked Rosario Dawson is just tough to comprehend.

What's really interesting is that it seems that some of his plans upon returning home were to look westward toward Italy. Since Rome was just a local power at the time it would have been interesting to see if they would have been able to stop his expansion. This theory is questionable since his original expansion eastward was to liberate Greeks and it just kept going. He might have had more trouble getting support for just expanding west when Greeks in Italy weren't being controlled by the Romans yet.

Italy had geography on its side. He could have, but it would have been tough and spread him thinner than most other expansion quests.

That's a good question. I guess the most far reaching effect that we might still see today would be more of a Western influence on middle eastern and maybe even Indian cultures.

Wouldn't that be nice

The coolest part of him is how he would spread the best attributes of each culture throughout his empire.

I agree with this.
He was an intellectual renaissance man before the renaissance. Liked art, literature, fine food and wine, music etc. and not just from his culture, but from all cultures he encountered. I bet if he took a modern IQ test it'd be off the charts.

He was a ruthless murderous tyrant. We need to change the name of every "Alexandria" in the USA.
