Unless I am wrong, the tracks look to be those off of a Panzer. Is that Panzer chasis with a self-propelled gun mounted? It seems that only two of the crew are wearing covers and they appear to be German. That's all I got...

You're all over it.

The German's called it the Bison. It was an early self-propelled artillery piece.

Kubelwagon
Made by Volkswagen
Germany

This vehicle was used extensively by the Germans in WWII. After the war they were sold over here in the US. Most folks know it as the Volkswagen "Thing".

Well you made me check myself....

... and you're exactly right. It is a T-35.

In my defense they are both obscure in that they were not used for long and very close in appearance.

The T28...

And the T35

The British dug a shaft under the German lines and then detonated a massive mine under their trenches during he Battle of Somme.

That is one heck of a hole. Gonna guess at a blockbuster dropped by the RAF?

I'm pretty sure that's the remains of a huge mine bomb the Brits detonated under the German lines during the Battle of the Somme during WWI. I'm sure you've seen this....

LINK

I'm thinking that's what that crater is from.

You are correct. They said the vibrations were felt all the way in London, and it was the loudest explosion in the history of mankind up to that point
