Had the two not dumped them on the ground and damaged them, they would have walked out with no charges. If you lock them inside before leaving, no crime has been committed.

I worked at Dillard one Christmas and saw a guy stealing a few pair of jeans. I called security and asked them if they wanted me to confront him. They told me no, they would get him when he leaves because while he is still in the store, he can claim he was going to pay for it.

Much better than when the employees just stand there videoing with their phone. As if anything is going to happen after thieves leave with stolen items.

Reminds me of morons filming carjacker driving a stolen car. Thanks those license plate numbers, they will be crucial to locating the driver inside the stolen car.

There is no reason for any hourly employee to get involved in that and I'm pretty sure they are instructed not to most of the time. Just shows what a sad state of moral decay society has become

two had attempted to steal over $18,000 worth of products,

I am sure a single store doesn't get many attempts like this where in one hit they are grabbing $18k of items, I have no idea what the average would be every year, but I don't understand why these places don't hire an in house security guard. Someone who could stop them from breaking product. There has to be some type of tax break for hiring a security guard right?

Lets say a company hires them and trains them, then companies contract them from the security company. That would make suing a little more complicated if someone wants to say the security guard did something worth suing over. Would they sue to store or the company they work for? (maybe not make it more complicated, I was just brainstorming in my head).

It just seems like there is a better way to secure these stores where all of these worthless fricks are going in and raiding them..
