Was Kate Upton the model for this doll's hips?

That's proportionate.

Yeah, the original Barbie, if a real girl, would be a disproportionate freak.

See the only women who actually thought her dimensions were ideal are the freakazoid weirdos like the one pictured above.

Normal women played with Barbie as a little girl and didn't get all wrapped up in "oh is this gonna make me think I'm not perfect too because the hips are not proportionate to a real woman's hips". No, we played with her and dressed her up and were just kids and didn't worry about dumb femnazi crap like that. Let Barbie be Barbie, it's just a freaking doll people.

Yeah, I didn't read the link, but is this an actual Mattel Brand Barbie doll? I have less problem with her figure (insert fat joke here) and more problem with her not looking like a real Barbie in the face.

I suppose I agree with you. I think there is shaming that happens a lot socially that can damage confidence, but the dolls don't strike me as a real problem. I had GI Joe's as a kid with bulging muscles, but they never really made me feel bad about what I looked like. It's probably different for everyone, though.

No there isn't enough imo. Obesity is a massive problem facing children and our nation. The health issues associated with it will only further drag down our oh so lovely state of healthcare. TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE OBESE. Let's not celebrate it or make people think it's A-ok to be that way. I obsess a lil too much over my weight, always have and always will. But at least I won't have type 2 diabetes and my obsession keeps me being an active person.

I'm obviously not saying to go up to obese children and just call them fat or anything like that. But this whole "any size is beautiful" mentality that has become the norm of our society is gonna slowly kill many people.

Well, obese is a far cry from looking like the barbie doll in the OP, I think.

Tubby

I think it's reasonable that both parties try to stay in shape so they don't develop fat asses and muffin tops. If they make a fat Barbie, I think that'll send the wrong message. Just stay sort of fit people! Is it that hard?

Well of course...that Barbie looks like a normal woman. She just doesn't look anything like Barbie(in the face). Like Coco....I think that bugs me the most.

Great marketing from Mattel. someone sat down and thought "how can we double sales?"- none of your kid's current Barbie clothes are going to fit that doll.

Mattel looks great for thinking progressively.

Nah, little girls are not gonna want that doll. She looks nothing like Barbie or a Disney Princess
