Help OT mechanics

2009 Silverado 145000 miles. Once a month the engine symbol comes on and I get a reduced engine power status. I sputter home and turn off, next day runs fine. It's been at the dealership 3 times and they have yet to find anything. Claim it has to be doing it for them to see a code. But I'm sure Monday morning it won't be. Anyone experience this before

Throttle body. Know of a Silverado that did the same thing around that mileage a few weeks ago.

Get an OBDII reader from eBay for like $15. Plugs into the diagnostic port on your vehicle and connects wirelessly over bluetooth or wifi to your smartphone, where you can read codes and other information about your vehicle in real time.

I've been reading throttle body but why can't these supposed mechanics diagnose this

Not sure. The mechanic we took it to said every Chevy that's had that problem has been the throttle body though.

Throttle body is a good place to start.
Could be catalytic converter as well, but not sure if that trips the check engine.

I'm gonna be at the dealership early Monday saying the OT said throttle body

Reminds me of my catalytic converter issue but that was on a 1990 S10

Bad ignition coil? Not hitting on all cylinders when cranking up?

"Check the throttle body, some baws on the internet said that was it"

On mine the service engine light comes on and the engine overheating message appears. It's a ~$500 repair.

That's a lot of miles, But take it to another dealer and see what happens... Esp if you are not paying for it....

Haven't paid yet for anything. But I guarantee all they have done is hooked up the computer.

If you don't have to pay for it... Take it to an independent guy... He will do more than just put it on the comp.. He will go farther than that cause he wants the bizz... Dealer techs don't give a shite....

Before the dealership i took it to a independent shop. They had it for a week for nothing. At least last time the dealership have me a sweet Malibu

Next time it does it drive straight to the dealership. Don't shut it off.
