Help needed, 12 Ford Feista No Start

My child's 2012 Ford Fiesta will not start.
When key is turned to start position the starter is silent, and only light clicks heard like relays.
Battery is completely charged.
Even with key in run position and brake pedal depressed, the automatic console shift handle will not shift out of park.
First problem occurred earlier in week when child was coming home from work. Car would not start with above symptoms but started after numerous key turns. Turn off at home and hasn't started since.
Found procedure on internet to sand paint off negative ground wire connections, but no help.

Does anything electrical work (radio, wipers, etc)?
ETA: Even though you say battery is charged, still sounds like a battery issue. Just went through something similar with my wife's car. Similar clicling noise and battery "charged". Bought a new one and problem solved.

You said battery is charged but did you try a jump?

There should be a battery compartment. You'll need a small screwdriver and 4 triple A batteries.

Congrats! Your millennial will now live with you at your home until they are 40.

Try jump starting it. If that works, then the problem should be narrowed down to either a bad alternator or the battery not holding a charge. If you bring the battery to AutoZone, they'll do a battery test for free to make sure its not bad.

Buy a King Ranch and tow the Fiesta behind it everywhere you go. Problem solved.

Perhaps the security feature is engaged due to poor connection to battery or because door was locked with key fob then opened from inside.
Happened to my sons car. Had to go through the reset procedure and finally cranked up.

Check the fuse box under the dash may have something to do with anti theft

When you refuse to use pronouns, it makes me think your child is an adult girl and you just don't want to be asked for pics. Be honest with us or we can't help with your Fiesta.

quote:Smart dad. Very little room for extra curricular activities in a fiesta.

Sometimes, if the starter is in a slow mode of failure, the internal components can get themselves into a state where they sluggish and just won't work. When this happens, a light jostling can often nudge them just enough to get them working again, at least for a while.
Try lightly tapping on the starter with a hammer to see if you can wake the hamster up.

Are the battery cables loose?
Posted on 6/16/17 at 1:12 pm to Gaspergou202
Try pumping the primer and pulling the cord again.

Make sure the shifter is completely in the "P" park position. Car will not start in not fully in park position.
next, i would look into the battery issue. you may have enough juice in the battery to hear radio, light, ect but not enough cranking amps to turn the starter over. good chance you have a bad battery cell, as the heat will speed up battery issues. Try jumping the car off.

You should probably just join a Ford centric message board. You'll get way better info there.

You've got a bad battery. You say it is fully charged but it is likely holding a charge just less than the minimum needed to crank the engine. If you can get a jump, it will likely start.
