4.0 nissan xterra.

Pay attention to how many are on the road. They havent been made in 11 years.

Buy one for 5-6k. Have a mechanic change all of the rubber hoses, belts, the intake into the heater core, and flush the coolant.

Drain and fill the transmission twice with valvoline dex/merc full syn.

Change oil.

Good to go with just oil changes for another 150k miles. Likely a lot further, but I like to do hoses and belts every 150k.

Almost 20 years ago ? Sounds like Scruffy got taken advantage of and he overpaid .
That was the price i got for a new hybrid civic. MSRP at the time was $22k.

MSRP for baseline new civics in 2006 was around $15k.

The best thing that’s ever happened to car dealerships is a lease. They get back a 1,2,3 or 4 year old car, low mileage, great shape, well maintained. They certify it, sell it, profit! I know, my friends and relatives own 11 dealerships in the BTR area.

BMW especially went all in on the lease. They plan on being able to sell a good majority of their cars twice.

I just found a '15 Corolla with 65,000 for $16,000 near me on cars.com.

$16k for a 9 year old shitbox Corolla just seems insane to me.

Nissan Altima is another choice. Solid, 4 door, but still sporty enough as a grocery getter and friend hauler.

Altima drivers are the worst though.

Only if you do NOT take only short trips.

The CVTs will go 300k miles. The CVTs struggle to make 60k miles doing only short trips.
