Was in Best Buy today trying to pick up a mobile order and they only had one cashier open. Probably 10 people in line and she tells a Best Buy employee walking by that “if y’all want our business and money, y’all need to hurry up open up another check-out line.”

I wanted to tell her that this is a major corporation, not some mom and pop small business that actually NEEDS your money. But I’m a bitch and just rolled my eyes and sat there in silence.

Seems like a reasonable request and misuse of the “Karen” designation

Do you don’t think major corporations need your money? How did they get to be major corporations?

The employees there did not care at all if we spent a dime in that store. Just crazy how some people get this entitlement because they’re willing to spend money in a store

The corporation might, but the workers don't. They dgaf whether you buy anything or not.

Like the average cog in the Best Buy corporate wheel gives a rat’s arse.

ETA they probably actually prefer the customers leave.

Call me old school, but I would say the customer is more entitled to customer service than the employee is to refuse customer service

That is pretty cringe and, if I were one of the young people working, would have given me all the more reason to NOT open another lane.

Now if she'd just said "will y'all open another lane?"? Sure, that's a fair, non-a-hole question.

True, but when a corporation is so big that the leadership is so far removed from the customer facing roles, and the people in the customer facing roles know their jobs can be cut and the board of directors won’t lose any sleep, you get lazy workers. Plus wasn’t there a recent thread about Best Buy using criteria other than who does the best work to decide who to put in management?

Mobile order. Less than 8% of retail business. Not even making the radar.

You know why I like Amazon? I get to know exactly what I’m buying and it shows up at my front door within a few days. Don’t have to drive anywhere or interact with employees or Karens. Hell, don’t even have to interact with the delivery driver. It’s awesome and I’ve started doing the same for my non perishable groceries.
