Health Insurance Options for Self Employed? EXPENSIVE!!

Also posted on MB, but no responses yet...so, what say the OT?
Wondering if there are any better options for Health Insurance for those that are self employed?
I currently pay about $1750 per month for wife (no pics), me, and 2 kids. Wife and I get W2's from my company, so we are on a group plan. It's a gold level plan, with co-pays and a $7k family deductible I think for non-covered services.
Humana is who we are with currently, but have also been with BCBS in the past, depending on monthly cost of the plan.
What are other Self Employed guys and girls paying? A few years ago it was only like $1200 per month for same coverage - goes up literally every single year by double digits %.

I pay $470 a month with Blue Cross...covers me and my two sons. Wife is on a plan with her job.
Huge deductible though...$10,000. But, it's insurance...not a medical cost reduction plan.

When a third party is expected to pay for everything, no thought is given to the cost and the prices go up.
When a fourth party dictates how many third parties there can be, the prices go up.
When the fourth party dictates what the third party must pay for, prices go up.
When the fourth party "helps" people "afford" the now artificially high prices, the prices go up.
You can connect the dots on who to blame.

Hate to break it to y’all but there isn’t a nation in the world right now that isn’t seeing a increase in health costs.
If you actually look at RATES OF COST GROWTH among oecd nations, we are middle of pack

It sounds like you have a pretty good plan, and you are paying for it.
Most self-employed people I know, have a high deductible plan and the cost is less.
But remember, you are seeing the costs from both sides - the employer and employee. Most people only see the employee cost.

There's a common denominator

What type of work? Do you have or can you form an LLC? If so if you have one W-2 employee or a co-owner, you can qualify for group plans. If you don’t qualify for a subsidy, this is a great option.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is an example of the Cloward-Piven strategy working (overloading or ruining the system on purpose in order to usher in socialism).

I'm paying $220/ mo but its a 70/30 plan with $8k deductible and many other limitations. The kicker is there are a very limited number of Docs that accept this plan even in Dallas. I do have 1 doc that is good that is only about 5 miles from me. You may also look into the Religious plans that aren't really health insurance. I have friends that use that and they are basically happy with it. But it doesn't cover office visits so if you go to the doctor much its not a good plan.

When I was Self employed I would just pay the doctor. Spend $300 at the doctor and save $1200/mo for insurance. Self insuring is fine for healthy people.
Had insurance for years during W2 days and never used.

But this board says that the trades are a hidden gem and those guy can make BANK. Oh and they also have to pay 100% of their med insurance plus fund 401k plus pay 100% of their FICA tax.
Yeah the trades a so great. Every kid should be getting on that bandwagon.
