In that line of work it isn't exactly uncommon to have someone travel for a job while being off of work for months. They will sometimes not have money and sleep in their trucks until they get paid. I've seen its handful of times.

The guy lived in Beaumont, wasn't homeless just out of town sleeping in his truck. Idk much else about his lifestyle though. I don't see many circumstances where someone takes your head. But hey, people are pretty crazy.
