I've had a job since I was 14 as well as worked through most of high school and college. I've never had more than 4 days off at a time. Now in my 40s, I'm thinking about quitting my job for a couple years and traveling, playing golf, etc and just see what life presents to me. Single and no kids so that's not an issue. The appeal of waiting until I'm in my 60s, not as healthy, prob not in the best physical shape to retire and enjoy real active things isn't that appealing to me.

I'd eventually have to go back to work but what says the OT? Is this just a mid life crises thought?

Go for it. Remember the laws in other countries are not our laws. Their ways are not our ways. In Hawaii they hate white people.

I'm 44 and don't think i've had one but my recent run of cars over the past 5 years or so would probably say otherwise.

I think if I was single with no kids I'd be sort of a nomad. I'd move to a new spot in the country every few years.

I think that's just called being burned out man. You aren't talking about taking your life saving to vegas for the weekend, just enjoying yourself while you still have your health. I'd say go for it.

Are you entertaining ownership of a sports car?

How prominent is the stitching on your blue jeans?

If he is I sure hope he uses that low interest 120 month car financing so he can use those savings for his real retirement or maybe a donut.

How do you get to your 40s and have never taken a week off for vacation? What do you do?

I'm planning on taking 8 weeks in 2019 for a long, long walk. That's my pre- planned mid life crisis. Trying to make it constructive.

My wife says I've been in a mid life crisis for two decades. Started thinking about retirement in my mid 30s. Saved every penny and invested wisely for that day to come.

I retired two years ago at age 53. She said I wouldn't last six months. Two years later and I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

Now if I can only get her to retire so we can do some serious traveling.

Do it if you can. Life is too short.

dude, you really need to get a life, and not as in the snarky old cliche, you really need to get a life, there's more to life than slaving away for the man
