I had a fricking colony living in the soffit between the bricks and interior.
This is my fear. I thought I saw him land on the facia one night but by the time I got there with flashlight I didn't see anything. He either squeezed through the soffit or was just perched and flew away.

Did you have a lot of shite on the soffit where they would enter/exit?

Droppings are usually along wall or underneath. Bats roost in trees especially in summer, rearing young there.

Get a nice long piece of string and tie a thin washer to it. Get someone, preferably your wife(for laughs), to swing it around above their head. The whistling sound coming from the washer attracks the bat. When it dive bombs the washer, knock the shite out of it with a tennis racket. Problem solved.

No problems since I improved the foundations in the southeast corner.

They can squeeze through an area the depth of a quarter or so.. You could see the rubbing on the facia where they were coming out.. They sleep in their own piss and shite so they are quite dirty

If they are colonized in there, they will come out at roughly the same time every night.. dusk.. If there are alot, you will here them whistling as tey get ready to go out for the night

I'll have to check the shutters. Any signs of their existence if they're not actually present?

nope, my shutters were the screwed-to-the-brick style and somehow they managed to get behind them.

when i pulled them off they were still sleeping and later when i went to gather up all the shutters they were gone.
