My green broke ex racehorse is still essentially green broke years later.

My baby is off to be broke later this year and I expect better results. He's pretty easy going. And I will toss a horse out of my bets before a race if it is acting a fool because they run their race before it starts.

Not necessarily. Depends on how you handle them as foals to a certain extent.
Take a 2yo out of the pasture that hasn't been handled, get on him and you've got your hand full. Spend some time with them as youngsters and it can be much easier.

Hey bueche.

Like I said above,I think my colt will be easy based off how much he's been handled, starting with the whole nurse mare attachment thing after he lost his mom.

I don't know what's more weird, the title of this thread or the OP's avatar.

thats why we dont eat them.

We should.

There's a lot of money to be made withe the overpopulated areas of wild horses running around.

Instead of an emigration program, if a food program was set up instead, it would save the nation lots of money and feed people good meat!

And those wild horses haven't received the drugs that domesticated horses have (wormer is one), so would be safer for eating.

Not that I ever could

I've broke several on the farm in a pen, but last year I watched a couple of exercise riders break one of mine at the Keeneland Training Center. They did right in the stall. I think it is overall a better method.

well why aint you breaking him them?

just kidding. I don't blame you. When I broke the colt I mentioned, it was a looonnggg process and I was fairly confident he would be easy. I leave all that to others now. I'm too old to be selling pencils out of a cup because some horse threw me.

Now I've got a horse with a broken leg and a gunshot wound. He doesn't get better next week I guess I'll shoot him again

We've got an exercise riding breaking mine so I'm assuming she'll use the same method.

Btw, husband took a new job and starts at keeneland next week. I'm excited to head back up for the return of dirt.

Screw that. Gimme something green broke any day. I've got a bad hip and now an ankle that will apparently never heal I will stay off the babies.

Hip I was born with and ankle was hurt bringing in groceries, just in case you thought I had cool horse stories.

I'm just happy to know you do domestic stuff like groceries! I can tell you of one female horse person who isn't familiar with the "domestic arts" at all!!

Ummmm, I will go to the grocery and I like to cook. Cleaning, laundry, etc, no thanks! I'd rather clean stalls and sheaths than dust.

So only sort of domestic.

Matt, that's a shame. I'm hoping for good weather the weekend I go up. I miss home, especially in the fall.

I have broken a couple of horses in my time, but, they were both made of ceramic and they had a clock in their stomach.
