Any thing y'all would like to bring up so I could add?
TIA!
TIA!

Because most pro athletes go to pot after getting paid.

Because the NCAA is racist.
America is racist.
American culture is racist.

Perhaps the Poli board may be beneficial for this question?

integrity of programs vs. money being pumped in
Schools need to maintain independence from being "bought"
If your professor is a woman- equality of pay would be unfair
Student already get scholarships, health care, food, board etc.

Oh wait! An Auburn fan.
Why pay the student when you can just pay the daddy.

room, board, tuition, and books, that's pay, plus they do get some stipend and expense money

Did not know exactly where to put it..

I thought Auburn paid their players?

As a former college athlete, I'm more concerned with the disability pension after you get out.

respecting traditions
like only landowners being able to vote
and slavery
and no interracial marriage
and women not being able to vote
just satirize the frick out of it

There's not a valid reason that they shouldn't receive compensation.

-it's amateur athletics (supposed to be anyway, that's a separate debate entirely). Getting paid just futher blurs the line between them being true "student athletes" and basically minor league players
-their tuition, books, food, housing, and everything else is already covered. They're walking away from school with probably over $100K in free benefits
-it's a slippery slope to go down. Let's say every player gets X amount of money. Ok...so in a few years what happens when your heisman winning QB complains that he makes as much as the backup punter? Eventually it could lead to price disparity which is just going to be a battle that no real CFB should want
-If the football players are getting paid, every athlete on all mens and womens teams need to get paid as well. So see point above, how do you determine how much the QB makes compared to the backup singles player on the womens tennis team?
-If schools are allowed to come up with their own system, the big money schools are going to further distance themselves from the smaller schools. The playing field will become even more uneven.
-It opens up shady behavior even moreso than it alreayd is. Your big time athletes can buy a brand new car, take pics with a handful of hundreds, buy out the bar eveyr saturday night, etc. When questioned they can simply say "it's my stipend money". Basically these under the table deals will ramp up considerably because now the players actually WOULD have an excuse for how they are spending all this money.
I'm not naive, I realize that hte game today is nothing like it was 30 years ago. But there still should be a line drawn where these 18-21 year olds are supposed to be going to school, going to class, and playing football on the weekends. It shouldn't turn into even more of a farm system.

While they should not get paid while on scholarship outside of the full cost of attending school, they should have a trust fun set up by the NCAA, where any money made by using their likeness is put into that fund. The NCAA needs to be forced to remove that from the LOI or whatever the players are signing when they attend school that allows the NCAA to do this without reimbursing the player.

They're compensated just fine, whether they take advantage of the opportunity afforded them is on them.

Besides football there is a very accessible avenue for the athletes to play professional sports after high school if they want. There are two general reasons why people pay collegiate sports
1) They can use it as an avenue to get a free education and continue to play they sport they love
2) They use it for training and showcasing their talents to become a professional athlete
Both ways athletes get something out of it. NCAA doesn't control age limits on professional sports leagues. Take it up with those leagues.

I am not sure, but check and see if "full" academic scholarships include "cost of attendance" payments. If they do then there is nothing wrong with providing athletes with "cost of attendance" money.

There are many, many, student athletes outside of power conference football and basketball. Only around 5-7 (look it up for sure) athletic departments are self-sustaining.
Where will the money come from to pay the Chadron State women's cross country team?
Most states are needing to reduce state funding for universities in general, where would the money come from? Is it even appropriate to that point to continue?
Where do you draw the line? Why would SEC/Big 10 etc. football players get paid but D-IA/FCS Big Sky Conference football players not? If it's all about money, then why not just play football and basketball among power conferences only? The entire dynamic would change.
