Hats off to officers working protests

Sorry if already mentioned... didn't search...
Looks like they are writing the rules on how to handle protest so far
-Armored Vehicles
-Riot Gear
-Not letting protesters gain access to the interstate
-Not letting protesters block major highways
-Not much, if any serious acts of violence in Baton Rouge so far
Everywhere else where protests are occurring you see violence, protesters basically doing what they want, and shutting down major highways and interstates.
Love the video I saw on the advocate of the Panthers march coming to a stop because of a police wall
Good job guys

I think this is the professional response. But, I'm not sure I could do it.
I would probably be petty and petulant enough to just stop enforcing the law in certain areas until they literally came to city hall and BEGGED the mayor and chief to resume police patrols.
And I mean literally beg - like on their knees.

It was absolutely glorious. Marching down Airline chanting, in formation, fists in the air. Once they caught sight of a line of riot police to meet them, they quickly broke rank and didn't know exactly what to do.

You're welcome.
And although we are proud of the efforts we have put forth, none of us are really surprised that we have been able to successful maintain peace and order. The Baton Rouge Police Department has always been a police department filled with professional well trained officers. None of the officers on the front lines and in the field have changed how they handle themselves since this started. We've been putting out fires in this city for years. I think massive incidents like this just allow the public the opportunity to see our capabilities and character easier because of the press coverage.
In my opinion, we have been able to maintain order and prevent large scale protest from turning violent because we haven't had our hands tied behind our back by any politicians. The mayor has trust in the police department and allowed its commanders to make the appropriate responses that we have been trained to conduct to handle these protest.

Law enforcement agencies will be copying their tactics for years to come. Just like they did when BR set the standard for catching serial killers with Derek Todd Lee. TRAIL BLAZERS!

They did a great job along with other area law enforcement agencies. They showed the protestors they will allow them to protest in a safe manner while maintaining order for the people who wanted to cause trouble.
We did not have the problems other cities had especially with the protest being near residential neighborhoods.
I can no longer say Baton Rouge Kiddy Police.

From what I've read, BRPD is doing a very good job handling the crowds. They were actually shaking hands and marching with the kids downtown the other day.
Slightly less delicate touch is required when it comes to their handling of the out of town agitators - particularly the ones near BPRD HQ on Florida/Airline. Again BRPD and LSP are being appropriate and deliberate in their handling of the protesters - some of which are not very reasonable people.
Their goal is to keep the streets clear, keep the protesters "legal", and keep things from spinning out of control like they did in Ferguson, Baltimore, Oakland, or St. Paul.

They did a good job. After what happened in Dallas, they have to play it safe. The protest went on, it had no impact on anything, as usual, police arrested people who was challenging their authority and nobody was killed.

I said this same thing this morning at work. This response will be studied by other cities for sure.
Good job BRPD.
