Been in downtown Houston for work this week. Went for a run around downtown yesterday afternoon and these were my observations….

Every single green space (basically a block converted by the city into a nice garden, monument, or just peaceful sitting area) designed and paid for to allow workers to get some fresh air, relax, take a break at lunch…has turned into homeless people loitering and leaving trash everywhere including urine and shite.

Just in my short run, saw two homeless in different areas urinating on the side of a building.

Thought it be cool to loop around some of the stadiums. Big mistake. Bordering Dynamo stadium and next to a tear down apartment complex is a tent city area that wreaks of human feces and littered with trash. I literally saw a pile of human shite in the middle of the sidewalk. Note…this was the sidewalk directly in front of the stadium.

Jogged around Minute Maid and it wasn’t much better.

Non contributors of society allowed freely to just destroy a city and its landmarks, tourist attractions, etc. From what I saw I would never park my vehicle or put myself in danger to be in that environment after dark.

My proposal is to create a fenced in area to dump these people in on cheap land outside of town. If ‘arrested’, they spend 90 days there. Jails are too overcrowded for these people. Has to be better than doing absolutely nothing.

Quit referring to it as homeless, refer to it for what it is, an open drug use scene.

Id rather give my tax money to the mentally ill homeless people than to the fatties who just don't want to get a job.

They’re ruining cities and small towns all over, and local governments aren’t doing anything about it.

Went to St. Augustine the other week and you have to step over bodies anywhere you go. It’s crazy how bad it is in many places.

On top of all that, watching the news this morning and there was a shooting last night in front of the Four Seasons…a block from where I’m staying.

Perhaps the fentanyl pouring in to the country is the government's solution. It makes it's way to the streets. No one forces them to use drugs. They choose to partake and eventually the poison does the job. The government then has plausible deniability.

Yup, it’s not great in downtown Houston these days. A decade ago i lived in Midtown and used to be familiar with the area. There were bums, sure. But the last few years, wifey and I always do a “Downtown Getaway Trip” for a weekend, coming in from the burbs and hitting up the hot spots. Walking around late at night or in the morning to get a bite to eat or hit up a bar in Downtown just doesn’t feel safe with a dozen bums on every corner.

The other issue is these bums are making it to be burbs now, because the soft idiots around there give them money.

Yeah. It's called "combating the opioid crisis".

It takes a tiny amount of effort and strategy, so the local governments won't be able to address that.

What could go wrong?

If you think Houston is bad, and I am Downtown there a few times a month, you should head out west. Bum camps are the new normal. Society is producing dropouts en masse. I’m not sure is any realistic fix for this multifaceted problem. Open air bum camp drug scenes are the future.
