L’appel du vide - the thought to jump off the ledge you are standing on; wondering what would happen if you drove your car into another car or person; it is the thought of "I could kill someone so easily right now" when holding a knife, hammer, or what have you.
All the time.

Thought Scruffy was just insane.

well i didn;t know it had a name. I've had the feeling forever, but it wasn't the idea of hurting someone. One of my earliest memories is of me standing near the edge of a mountain/cliff and wanting to jump. For that reason I don't go near edge of anything because i have a burning desire to fricking jump. I always have the desire to ramp my car into the wall or a ditch, pretty much everything you said.

Some think these inklings are where two universes diverge, and in the other one you do jump.

I get the same shite, but it seems like my brain challenging me to do whatever it is. I could be on the 10th floor balcony at the beach and just hear my brain say, "jump mother fricker", or I could be standing at the register and hear my brain say, "hit that dude".

Pretty weird since I am extremely impulsive, but I don't think I have ever done anything like that sober

No, it is a thought or impulse you have in strange situations.

Have you ever been driving and the thought "I could swerve into traffic" or been on a balcony and thought "jump"?

It sounds insane and morbid, but it's kinda funny when Scruffy thinks about it.

No, that is likely based on frustration. These impulses or thoughts arise spontaneously.
