Has anyone had success in combining GM discounts?

I'm currently about a month away from pulling the trigger on the truck I want. GM offers numerous discounts. The dealer I'm most likely going with has the vehicle I want for the GM supplier price (not sure if I can take advantage of that since I have no relations with any GM employees). GM does offer a military discount and a college discount, I can qualify for both but I'm not sure if they can be combined. Can anyone on here clarify this before I pick up the phone?

And if it reads true, I'm pretty sure I qualify for the GM trade-allowance. My next question would be if I can combine those discounts, would I be better off going through a trusted car buying service (USAA, Navy Federal Credit Union) or the dealer to take full advantage? My last vehicle purchase I was going to go through USAA but the dealer beat their financing.

I combined supplier price and student discount. If they won't combine them, shop around. I know they can do it, but there are definitely many dealers out there that would rather pocket that money. As for financing, if you have good credit, dealer financing is usually cheaper in my experience. I'd call around the week you start looking and get rates to be sure though.

The fine print under the discount should tell you. I'd look it up, but I'm feeling lazy right now. Sorry.

What kind of price are you getting on what kind of truck? Cross shop it with prices in Houston if you aren't buying there already.

When I bought my truck and my wife's SUV, I had the option to use the GM family discount due to my uncle retiring from GM. What I found was that I was able to get a better price with the discounts at the time than I would have been able to get using the GM discount which is not much for a nephew. They are typically in my experience willing to deal a little more because the GM family plan sets the price and that is the price they get and that point they will not negotiate anymore. I had the paperwork filled out if the negotiations stalled and the Family price would have been cheaper

I've searched high and low for rules regarding discount combining but have found no clarity. In the market for a 2016 fully loaded Colorado. Comes out to around $40K after the supplier price. If I'm allowed to combine the military and student discount then I can probably get that down to $35K and then do the trade in. I live in Nashville, so Houston is out of the question.

Meh Navy Federal will give me 1.99 for 60 months or 2.29 for 72 months. I'd be surprised if any dealer beats that.

2nd gen. Base model crew cab starts at $25K. I have to have all the bells and whistles though.

I can beat that no problem as long as you are at least 720

I got my 2014 CC Z71 2WD LT All Star Edition for 36K my out the door price was 31 after my trade in and 3K down payment. I got dealer financing for 60 months at 1.1% with excellent credit. The price they are wanting for the midsize trucks to me is insane when you can get a full size for around the same price with discounts, but to each their own the canyon and colorado's are good looking trucks.

I agree, the mark-up isn't on the truck per-say. The mark-up is on the optional equipment/additions.

No. I'm a finance director for Toyota
Sorry man
I will say that certain incentives can be combined and certain ones can't
They should be able to combine college grad and military for sure
But not sure you get that with GM supplier pricing. You have to remember that these are manufacturers incentives. So they receive the money from GM if they apply

Supplier discount is not the same as employee price unfortunately. I used to get a supplier discount with Ford, General Motors, and Nissan. That said, the big 3 are usually more aggressive with discounts on their full sized trucks as a general rule of thumb.

For now, they don't come off the price as much on the new Chevrolet and GMC mid sized trucks. I'm waiting for the novelty of a diesel mid sized truck to slow down before I buy a Colorado.

But it's still a discount though right? Somethings better than nothing, even if it isn't I'd be good with a combination of the military and college grad discount if acceptable.

For me it's now or never, I plan on holding the 2016 Colorado for 20+ years if possible. And I don't think it's so much the novelty that is increasing the price so much because a diesel engine will set you back a couple thousands. It's the luxuries that contribute the most to truck mark-ups. All of these luxuries weren't as common 10+ years ago.

I'm wondering if I should wait until memorial day weekend to see what other incentives pop up.

Must be a Duramax Diesel model. That's a great rig, and I'm thinking of buying one myself. My local dealers are not budging at all on the price and actually seems to have trouble keeping more than one diesel in stock at a time. I'll have to keep my ear to the ground for discounts when I buy. Hopefully they'll build up some kind of inventory over a year or so.

I'm pretty sure you can't combine the employee discount with much of anything. It's incompatible with most other discounts in their system. Some of their discounts also don't apply to hot models like the Corvette or possibly the new Colorado pickup so read the fine print carefully.

I know Toyota's military discount isn't compatible with all models they sell.

Since you are in Nashville...when you send out for quotes online, you may want to include both Atlanta and Memphis in your search area. Relatively short drive, and you may come across a deal.

Yeah, it's definitely not nothing. Know anyone employed by a supplier that can help you get a supplier discount?

I know for a fact that the military and the college grad discount applies to the Colorado, I just don't know if I can combine both.

I can't justify adding the diesel, although I do want it, it's not the model in question. The model in question is the Colorado midnight edition with all the bells and whistles.

I went through Ford Credit @ 6% when i bought my truck to take an extra $1k off the price then refinanced it through NFCU @ 2.29% the next month.
