Has anybody tried hypnosis/hypnotherapy? Does it work?

I've always been curious about this because I feel like I've heard many success stories with it. Random people claim that it helped them to lose wait, quit smoking, become more focused... etc.
Has anyone here ever tried it? And if so, what does it feel like and how does it work?

I've smoked a blunt and gone into a hypnotic state, if that counts.

I got your mom to try hypnosis and it worked out pretty well for me.

I did. It did wonders for my state of mind, but my TPS reports suffered.
