The most respected war general in the late 19th century. Won most of his battles and will be remembered as one of the greats alongside Stonewall Jackson.

Just because the eastern part is southern doesn’t mean the other 3/4 of the state automatically are southern. Similar to north Florida / panhandle Florida
- cultural heritage is more akin to New Mexico and Arizona than it is to Georgia or Tennessee
- geographically it’s more akin to Oklahoma and Kansas than it is to any southeastern states.
- don’t get me started on how the transplants have impacted the future and culture in Texas.

Multiple native tribes fought for the confederacy while Oklahoma was a territory before it was a state.

That’s just one part of the state. The vast majority is much more southwestern.
Hell look at most of the names of cities and the food. They’re Spanish influenced much like California. Texans can hate it all they want. They’re closer to California culturally than they are to Tennessee. East Texas is the exception not the rule.
