I don't think she's such a great songwriter, and I don't really care for her music, but...
I have a lot of respect for her as a businesswoman and how she's engineered her career.

She is flat out a horrid songwriter of primarily pop songs with no substance outside of young girl angst against men.
It's artists like this that ruins the industry.
Her sole market is getting little girls mommy and daddy's money.

I don't know if I'd go there, but admittedly, I don't know many other pure songwriters.
With that said, when Teardrops On My Guitar came out, I remember being impressed with the writing on that song. I point to that one every time someone asks me about a well written song.
I haven't been a fan of her few most recent offerings.
