...whether it be at home or at a gathering. Is there a more helpless, repressive, douchebag than this?

I mean if she's doing it why not? She can leave any time she wants. She isn't doing anything she doesn't want to.

I like fixing my man's plate of food. Very 1950's housewife-ish.

I'm amazed at guys that let their wives or girlfriends buy all of their clothes. I don't mean a few pairs of socks or underwear or something that was spotted on sale, I mean all of their clothes.

My wife used to do this for me when we were dating and engaged. Then my Mom saw her do this and proceded to tell her to never do it again. She also chewed me out for allowing her to do it. She only does it now if HER Mom is in attendance and mine is not.

What is he doing? Holding a gun to her head?

Yea that would be pathetic

If you are questioning a guy who asks his SO to make him a plate every now and then, well you must not be in a relationship or married.

Mine has done this ever since we were dating, unless I beat her to it.
Never asked her to...her way of showing affection.

Now, a dude that insists that this is her duty every meal...that guy needs a bitch-slapping.

It is somewhat odd, though. How does she know what or how much you want?

yeah, anyone who makes a thread about it.

In light of your opposition to someone fixing your plate, I assume you don't eat at restaurants.

Yes, it's a nice gesture to offer but 1) Only I know exactly what I want and 2) I agree that the guys I know that expect it, are assholes, and this was mainly who I was referring to.

I don't like other people making my plate. I am very particular about my portions, especially when there is a giant spread.

I have a BIL who would starve if my sister didnt fix his plate. Anyone who is capable of doing everything they can, for themselves, should do it.. But my BIL is one who thinks women should cook, serve the food, wash the dishes... I wouldn't be surprised if he expects her to run his bath water for him. That's actually a thing, I remember some girl years ago telling me how she "draws" her daddy's bath water every night. Evidently he didn't take showers, but yeah..
