But what is really interesting is what he was driving...
quote:
Maine State Police say they've charged an 18-year-old Manchester man with driving a Dodge Neon at 146 mph on Interstate 95, more than twice the 70 mph speed limit.
Police say 18-year-old Tyler Barrows was stopped in Pittsfield, Maine, on Wednesday and was charged with criminal speeding, a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
The Portland Press Herald reports the stop was made by Lt. Bruce Scott, head of the state police Traffic Safety Division. Scott says it was the fastest he's ever clocked someone driving.

No. No fricking way.

It was an SRT-4, not just a regular Neon.

Damn you and your facts. Ruining the thread.
BTW, waiting on a Ford guy to come along and point out he got caught by a Taurus.

In 2004, the SRT-4 received a power increase, with larger fuel injectors and a recalibrated engine computer. Top speed: Car and Driver magazine achieved a maximum speed of 153 mph (246 km/h). 230HP

Yeah, that's not possible.

Here is my issue with this.
I don't agree that he should be allowed to just drive at that speed and not get in any trouble because he is going excessively fast but for an officer to catch that car if the officer is sitting still, the officer would have had to do atleast 150+ mph in order to catch up to even keep eyes on the car.
At that point, how is the officer even being safe?
I support police officers but at that speed there is nothing safe going on at all

Are you ever right?

Someone else probably clocked him and radioed ahead.

Then how would you ever arrest a speeder?
"Oh, you're going too fast. Just keep on going, I can't catch up. "
