Could this be the worst way to go out?

Guy Dissolves

quote:

A 23-year-old Oregon man essentially dissolved inside a hot spring at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming after he accidentally fell into it. The bizarre incident happened back in June, when Colin Nathaniel Scott went to the park with his sister to find a place to "hot pot." According to a recently released report from park officials, Scott and his sister went to an unauthorized area near the Norris Geyser. "They were specifically moving in that area for a place that they could potentially get into and soak," Deputy Chief Ranger Lorant Veress told CNN affiliate KULR. "I think they call it hot potting." Scott had reached down to check the temperature of a spring when he slipped and fell into it. Rescuers later found Scott's body inside the pool, but couldn't retrieve it because of a lightning storm in the area. When they came back the next day, no remains were found beneath the spring's churning, acidic waters. "In a very short order, there was a significant amount of dissolving," Veress said.

Surprisingly, that's not the worst melt we've seen in the last week and a half.

To steal a line from the other thread, being from Oregon he was going to melt anyway over the election.

Nope, having it happen to you 3 times would be the worst.

I worked in Yellowstone for two summers and a winter during my college years. There's no way Park Rangers can stop someone hell bent on acting like a fricktard.

In my combined nine months of working there, I saw people do the dumbest shite: people approaching and touching bison, folks trying to throw bricks into Old Faithful, college students spray painting historic buildings, tourists trying to cut down trees, etc.

Yellowstone is bigger than Puerto Rico or the state of Delaware. It's not like policing a few acres. Rangers can't be everywhere at once, especially once people venture off from traditional touristy areas within the park.
