On December 3, The Washington Post reported that gun crime has been on the decline for about 20 years, except for high-profile shootings in gun-free zones; WaPo claims those shootings are on the increase

Gun ownership increased for 20 years, but “gun homicides” decreased–except in gun free zones.

WaPo points to a study by Mother Jones that claims that high-profile shootings began increasing in gun-free zones in late 2011/early 2012. The examples Mother Jones provides are the Aurora movie theater, Sandy Hook Elementary, and the D.C. Navy Yard, all of which were gun-free zones.

Other examples of shootings in gun-free zones that could have been cited are Arapahoe High School (December 2013), Fort Hood (April 2014), Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church (June 2015), Chattanooga military offices (July 2015), the Lafayette Grand Theatre (July 2015), and Umpqua Community College (October 1).

Why do we have to do the conservative pro-gun circle jerk after every mass shooting?

well because the other side came out swinging with aimless claims for gun control based outside of logic and based squarely on emotional-irrational thinking. this is a defensive move made in response to those attacks

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 39, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because this post gave me cancer anyway.

Trump has already said he'd completely do away with gun free zones.

I wonder what the link is between gun free zones and mass shootings? Surely these shooters know guns aren't allowed in gun free zones.

This is the safest time to ever live on earth.

We'll have to deal with it. Guns aren't going anywhere.

agree.
quote:

“In 1993, there were seven homicides by firearm for every 100,000 Americans. … By 2013, that figure had fallen by nearly half, to 3.6 [per 100,000].”

But also

i'm all for the 2nd Amendment... as long as we keep it in the context of history in which it was written...

oh, and do what Chris Rock proposed... make bullets really expensive...

that way everyone's happy.... you can have all the muzzleloaders you want, and all the bullets you can afford...

Do you apply that to the 1st as well? Pretty sure there wasn't internet back in the founders' day.
