It's not trashy. But if you're an OT baller you would just travel to one of your remote islands in the Caribbean on your replica of The Black Pearl from Pirates of the Caribbean.

We go to sea grove in Florida early every summer. I love it.

I agree for a quick getaway, especially with young kids. But to constantly brag to your coworkers that you are taking 2 vacations this year? One to Gulf Shores and one to Destin?

I mean, when an OT Baller takes 2 vacations, we are talking Swiss Alps to Ski and French Rivera, right?

Buying on Bayou last night said Gulf Shores, AL is the Cajun Tropics

Jamie and his fiancée Brandi are looking for a home to start their life together near the Cajun Tropics of Gulf Shores, Alabama. But there’s one problem - Jamie wants a house on the bayou, but Brandi prefers the beach. Which one will they choose?

Yeah, no problem with a weekend there. As far as your sole vacation spot and acting as if its exotic, then you're trashy.

It's the closest real beach and plenty to do for a family there. How is that trashy?

No. It's perfect when you have small kids.

This. Up until my kids were 10 or so years old, we loved taking a short trip to Orange Beach. We always went early in the season and I have no complaints.

Most car tags I see while in GS are from LA. Must not be too trashy, right?

I love that people here wrote the rulebook on what is and isn't trashy. Self-conscious as frick.

I can kind of agree with this. I know a guy who only goes to three places over and over and over. Weekends to Grand Isle. A week long gulf shores trip for Mullet Toss, and lots of carnival cruises from NOLA.
He thinks he is living a life of luxory.

Brought my twin 3 year olds there last year. Had a great time. Very relaxing. Good 5 day trip for a family.

Trashy? Nah. Cruises are trashy.

I never have understood the whole "trashy" thing. I've heard the same about Destin.

I'll say this about Destin; it's beautiful but too damned hot.
We're going by Destin long enough to take pictures of our 4 year old daughter on the beach. We bought 4 dresses at about $90/ea just to take pictures. If she enjoys being in the sand then so frickin' what.

Like gulf shores and orange beach a lot. Spent two full summers there and I'm essentially a local since I'm registered to vote there and my family retired and bought a house and beach condo. I made a lot of friends in the two summers I spent there and like hanging with them when I go back.

Sure I would get sick of living there, but I'm happy my parents retired there. Nothing ever changes either. Year after year when I go home, I just show up at live bait and everyone is still there doing the same. Goes for Seville in Pensacola when I go home for Christmas every year as well. Think it sucks for the people that grew up there, the way nothing ever changes, but I like seeing all my buddies still the exact same.
