A friend of mine guides bear photography tours in Alaska, this spring, he captured this:

In that video you can see the patches of discolored fur on their back along their spines from previous altercations. They’re trying to paralyze their opponent when they make that bite. They disable prey the same way.

Great videos.
Curly Miller had two of them mounted in the standing fighting pose. One of them may have been an Alaskan Brown. He built a special building at his house to put them in. With a bunch of other animals.

Blondie destroyed the darker bear. He was on the ropes early, but doesn't look too damaged in the end whereas the darker bear (the one that was mating with the female) is bloodied the hell up.

I can’t believe ol buddy didn’t pull out and take defensive measures at all. He was determined to finish all the way up to the point that he had another giant bear biting the shite out of his neck.
I guarantee, if a killer is walking toward me, I am zipping up and preparing for the fight before he has a knife in my back.

Anyone who thinks a Grizzly bear wouldn't totally frick up a Silverback Gorilla is nuts.
A Silverback wouldn't last three minutes against that. Grizzlies are predators. Look at where they attack. They instinctively go straight for kill and maim points. Face, neck, nape, spine.
Watch gorillas go at it though and it looks sorta like slap fighting. They just indiscriminately go wild.

Apparently their skin is loose, like a badger, and very hard to rip open.
Everyone should watch this video before going into the wilderness in brown bear country.

Incredible videos....can't imagine having to fight to near death or ram my head into some other dudes head (sheep, deer, etc..) every time you are trying to get laid
