Fluorescein (tracking dye), used to trace leaks. It’s happened before in NY. (It's also what colors antifreeze.) Has other uses like eye drops to stain corneal abrasions so it’s definitely harmless

Yes it's obvious it was dye. They use it for leak and sinkhole testing but some of you are no fun

They put dye in the sewers so they can see where it is leaking.

That's how the Chicago River was dyed green for the first time. And now it's a St. Patty's day tradition. They dye the river in Chicago green every year now. Lots of fun.

They are just dye testing the sewer lines.

The dye is sold at Home Depot.
