New or old fridge?
Newer ones that are green are harder to work on. Less people comfortable with the tech.

Put it by the curb and go buy a new one.

I know a guy out of Laplace who does ac’s and fridges but I’m not sure how busy he is.

Had somebody come look at our 2017 kenmore, which turns out had LG parts…they said go buy a new one… must be a Freon leak high up and not worth the repair.
We went looking and hard to find one in stock for another 1-2 months

Had a repair man come look at my fridge about 6-7 months ago because it wasn't cooling. He arrived, checked the sensors, declared the sensors were all functioning correctly, so it must be something in the closed coil system (freon) and nobody works on those anymore. He said it's a $500-750 repair, so just replace it, but my fridge was also 12 years old, so that matters, too.

Watch a few videos and try to fix it yourself, no joke. Especially if it's not a newer one with all kinds of tech.

What's it doing?
If it's not cooling it can be due to dust bunnies on the cooling coils.

Is it running at all?
Because you should go and catch it.

If the government really wants to help the environment they would mandate that appliances work for at least 10+ years.

My Samsung fridge was replaced a few days ago. Had it for 13 years and the freezer stopped working. The chill was still working though. The repair guy quoted me $1000 to fix the freezer. I ended up going to Costco and bought a new LG for $2400.

In the past 4 years I’ve replaced the compressor and there was a small coolant leak.
It’s currently not cooling below 55.
The person who repaired it last time will not return calls or text.
I would buy a new one but it’s a full-size that is built into the wall, and replacement is about a year and half out.

David Kade Appliance Repair got mine squared away recently. It was having some goofy issues but he sorted it out very quickly and didn’t charge me an arm and a leg. If you have Nextdoor app search him there for his contact info, and he had lots of great reviews on it.

My 2015 Kenmore Elite's freezer broke in 2019 and, using the Sears authorized repair service (seems like a joke to even say that now), I embarked on a year long odyssey of multiple service calls with a company that was basically in bankruptcy. They replaced the compressor twice and several other parts that were delivered straight to my house. Two different repairmen, one of whom said the other one's work was shoddy. It seems to be working now. I almost lost my religion in the process.

Maybe Dixie appliance parts can recommend someone?
Phone: (225) 673-4334
The folks there are very helpful. They may even give you an idea of where the problem is.

I learned the expensive way that it's cheaper to buy a new fridge than to pay a guy to fix the fridge

Of course the work was shoddy. A good repairman would not be working for a bankrupt warranty company.
