Yeah that is what we are doing. The unexpected move and the timing of it had us dipping into our downpayment fund to pay for all the moving costs(security deposits, etc) so that was very annoying.

Yeah that's another reason I don't want to move until we buy....up here they want first and last months rent plus deposit...so when rent averages 1800 a month do the math on that

Thank God you didn't burn your FTHB in Louisiana .. Sounds like you're still looking at $12K or so for a decent house ..

Yeah we are looking to save at least around 10-15K before we even start looking.
Dill...yeah we were willing to stay month to month at old place because of all those costs...but landlord had another idea. Here you usually need first month's rent, security deposit(which is usually equal to one month's rent), pet deposit(usually about $300-500), cleaning deposit(usually $200-300), and sometimes additional admin fees($200-300). I was getting really tired of other house though so maybe this was really for the best.

I have to drive to Richmond in a while for a court appearance tomorrow morning. I don't want to deal with rush hour traffic on a 100 mile ride in the morning. At least it's not snowing. I'll get a good night's sleep in a hotel tonight and not have to get up at 0'dark thirty to make the trip.
